FAQ
Questions mods actually ask.
Straight answers on accuracy, privacy and what happens to the data. If yours is missing, ask in the Discord and we will add it here.
How does DisAuth find alt accounts?
When someone verifies in a server running the DisAuth bot, we capture device, browser and network signals on our own verification page. Those signals are compared against every other verification in the network. Accounts that share strong signals get linked and scored.
What do the confidence levels mean?
Certain means a direct link such as the same verification cookie or an identical device fingerprint on the same network. Likely means strong circumstantial evidence, for example the same device on a different connection. Possible means a weaker overlap that deserves a second look before you act on it.
Will the person I search know?
No. Searches are private to you. The account you look up is never notified and never sees who searched for it.
Do I need to add a bot to search?
No. Searching works from the website with a Discord login. Adding the DisAuth verification bot to your server is optional. It contributes signals to the network and unlocks automatic flag and ban actions on join.
What is a five-word fingerprint?
A stable, human-readable signature derived from an actor’s combined behavioural signals. Two accounts with the same five words are almost certainly the same person, and the words are easy to remember and share between moderators.
Can someone opt out?
Yes. Anyone can request exclusion and their records are masked from search results. Retention is also capped, so old signals expire on a fixed schedule.
How long is data kept?
Verification signals are kept only as long as they are useful for detecting ban evasion and then deleted on a fixed retention schedule. The exact period is published in our privacy policy.
Is this allowed under Discord’s terms?
DisAuth exists to help moderators enforce their own server rules. We never read messages, never sell data, and publish a privacy policy that explains exactly what is collected. Using DisAuth to harass, dox or target people is prohibited and results in a ban. DisAuth is not affiliated with Discord Inc.
